What is Migraine?

Headaches that occur at localized portion of the head are called a migraine headache. It occurs with regularity with a variety of symptoms. Loud noises or screeching sounds or any other sound with noisy decibels causes Migraine headaches. Exposure to bright light that causes flickering of light and produces an aura or blurring vision also is followed by migraine. Some times the interval between two headaches is days, sometimes it is months. There is no particular pattern of the headache. One side of the head gets the pain with throbbing intensity.

Sometimes an upset stomach also causes migraine with acidity. An empty stomach also causes migraine with gastritis. These are serious carelessness about one’s eating habit. Teenage girls may get the migraine during different days of their menstrual cycles for apparently no reasons.

Characteristics of Migraine

There are medicines for the treatment of migraine which can be taken as soon as the attack comes. However, these medicines are dangerous for repeated use. Therefore sometimes a serious patient may like to borne the pain without any treatment in which case it lasts for 2 hours to 2 days. Migraines caused by stomach upset may last for as long as 3 days. A sound sleep can reduce the pain, but one should not be woken up abruptly during this period.

It usually starts from one side of the head, but it may affect both sides of the temple. Throbbing pain with various pulses is the characteristic of the pain which makes opening of the eyes impossible. It is better to sleep off, or to keep quiet. The mind should also stop thinking.

Headache may be of varied degrees. But any headache causes nausea tic feeling and sometimes vomiting. One does not feel like eating anything. Milk products repel the hunger. With exertion the pain tends to aggravate more. With no food and drinks, one may get dehydrate which again contributes to the vicious circle of headache.

Auras start happening before a headache which include flashing or flickering lights, blurring of vision, colored spots or black spots running before the eyes, taste buds becoming sour or bitter and irritation happens just before the attack. This is the phase which is immediate before the headache but it is no use taking medicine at this stage.

It may be a genetic affair with the code for headache may be carried over by a person to be happening.

Daily headaches

When headaches occur for 15 days every month for continuous three months then it may be called chronic. Some migraines will become daily variety with passing time. These are termed as transformed migraines. There are a variety of migraines and headaches and it takes some time to determine the exact ailment.

Tension type or stress related headaches are chronic type which can be easily cured with rectification of living style. However, some medications taken for a long time like steroids which may pose withdrawal syndromes manifest with either headache or migraine. Medically these are called drug rebound syndrome. It may be an indication that the drug is not working for the patient. One should stop taking the medicine to know the exact reason of the headache.

Daily headaches may result from low nutrient diet. The exertion or physical exercise is more than the actual intake of nutrients which causes energy giving component in the blood resulting in dilation of the nerve to the brain causing headache. So deciding the food vale of each component of the food menu and then eating a balanced variety is wise. .Women are careless about their food in developing countries which causes anemic tendencies, low blood pressure and migraine.

Daily multi vitamins and anti-oxidants and fruits with lots of fiber make up the deficiency.

Controlling measures

Tension related headaches with women can be controlled if they are sufficiently educated about their worries. They should understand that there is absolutely no way out for the worries to go if the person does not know to tackle the problems.

People can’t be changed, more so in case of the irritating husband. The parents are the only people on earth who could have changed your personality or his. But after the formation period is crossed, he will continue to be what he is. This is the very reason why the love occurred between you two and there is no necessity to change the person. Changing oneself is possible in the worst case.

Circumstances are another parameter which can not be changed. Nobody gets a perfect world.

There are different theories about the cause of migraine headaches. Often several family members are affected, suggesting genetic factors are partly responsible. Some individuals may become hypersensitive to triggers in their environment, such as flickering lights, changing weather patterns, or strong odors. The true cause may be a combination of factors. Some of the possible causes include:

Blood vessel changes. Blood vessels in the head may first tighten and then expand during a migraine attack, changes that may explain the aura before and the throbbing pain during the migraine. Some migraine medication and other treatments may work by counteracting or blocking these changes in the blood vessels.
Brain and nervous system changes. Imaging studies have identified an area in the brainstem at the back of the head that is activated during a migraine attack. A spreading wave of decreased activation occurs in the brain at the onset of an attack, which may account for the blurred vision or numbness that some people experience in the migraine aura.
Serotonin system abnormalities. Serotonin is a natural chemical in the brain that has an important function in transmission of signals from one brain cell to another. Some migraine medication and other treatments affect serotonin action in the brain and can stop a migraine.
